At the core was a misjudgement on how long and difficult it would be to break into cardiac surgical practice, and a n expensive foray into immunological research. So the company was under funded and expense s were too high and share holders bore the burden of repeated capital raises and dilution. Taking on debt was a risk which didn't turn out well and has resulted in the current predicament.
