I must admit, being a bit of a novice, that I have never quite understood what benefit it is to the market for a company to go into halt for 48 hours pending an announcement that is delivered twenty minutes before trading re-opens. I would have thought that the purpose of the halt was to allow the market to properly digest price sensitive information before trading recommences.
