Hi mhquay, fair question for a novice,  to help you see the situation we have here;
SGQ went into a TH on Tuesday morning due to an event that has been deemed to be material to the company taking place between Monday 4pm and Tuesday 10am EST. The trading halt is in place

                "pending an announcement regarding significant drilling results at the Company’s Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.

IF the halt was not put in place every person on site has opportunity to spread the word that things could get interesting and they could then buy stock on the open market with this "insider knowledge".

The company is required by law to prevent this from happening by requesting a TH allowing the Company time to further investigate and put together an announcement that will contain all the information required for investors to make an informed decision after the announcement is made prior to trading recommencing.

A suspension could occur if the company requests more time for them to the gather data and collate the announcement accordingly (here's hoping)
