I'm still processing the news, but that thought crossed my mind too.
My current train of thought is heading this way:
Since Bega already bought at the top (or very much near it), if the scheme falls through they will be left holding the bag.
If Bega buys more soon, they will probably be buying at over $21 and taking on more risk.
If Bega sells, they could perhaps break even or make a slight profit.
This move seems to make a profitable exit for Bega possible and increases the risk should Bega choose to buy more.
Maybe that was intentional - BidCo probably wants to be working with Wroxby Pty Limited unhindered.
