Manny - the beef isn't so much VGI vs CTD valuation of goodwill, it's that CTD changed a key parameter in their own calculation of goodwill value for impairment by changing the discount rate on projected earnings from ~16% in FY17 to ~12% in FY18. CTD gave its reasons for this change in their response, VGI however is pushing in their rebut for more details as to whose expert opinion CTD used.
The effect of this change means that the growth in CTD's businesses can be much lower without triggering goodwill impairments.
