If you sell Roche, you wont be doing Carriere. Roche on its own will influence the Lithium market dynamics for quite some time, since it will satisfy a lot of demand for years to come on its own.
Easy for whomever owns Roche to keep a later entrant, like AVZ with Carriere, out of play for a significant period. And if Roche alone goes to Chinese interests, it will be in play much quicker than most expect.
Just remember, the investment in getting Roche up to speed is not applicable to Carriere, since the infrastructure will already be built.
Even if you mothballed Carriere for a significant time and progressed Roche, this would be a better play.
Let Roche come to market, use funding off Roche down the track to bring Carriere on stream as other supply elsewhere dries up or weakens. Carriere gives us long term assurance and the ability to time a supply gap in the market should it arise.
This of course assumes the Carriere results are actually good.
Exactly. Selling one will mean we shoot ourselves in the foot as the buyer will most likely be able to bring it to mine MUCH quicker than us.
To be honest I don't think this is anything other than a bit more bargaining power.
Our deposit is already massive. Carriere is like putting a tennis court in the backyard. Nice to have but it's not gonna be the sole reason people buy the property, nor would you sell just the tennis court.
