PERTH (miningweekly.com) − ASX-listed Venus Metals has completed the Yalgoo iron-ore project scoping study, which found that the project had a net present value potential of A$1,14-billion.The project, in Western Australia, could also have an internal rate of return of 24,4%, based on a 30-million-ton a year mine, Venus said in a statement.The scoping study covered six major aspects of the project, including metallurgical test work, process selection, infrastructure review, factored capital costs, operating costs estimates and preliminary financial modelling.The concentrator capital cost for the development of the Yalgoo project has been estimated at A$1,04-billion, with processing costs estimated at A$7,37/t of ore treated.The capital investment associated with the portand rail infrastructure, including the owner's cost, is estimated at around A$339,3-million.Based on the current resource of around 443,9-million ton, grading at 30,29% iron, the projectcould have a mine life of around 15 years.Venus was developing the Yalgoo project in conjunction with its farm-in and joint-venture partner Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Minerals, as a key supplier of iron-ore to steelmills in the Shandong province in China.
