Crystalline silicon anode will never occur due to that thermal instability. Disordered or amorphous silicon might be a different story. I've seen recent papers on using amorphous silicon carbide (about 90% silicon, 10% carbon) as anodes. Then you got lithium anodes, so who knowsAll this takes time.
