That's kind of how the media works. Companies issue a media release that says something along the lines of "you can't post this before xyz", they write it up, and probably posted it before they read the retraction/the retraction came late because of the ASX enquiry.
I don't see anything suspicious there at all except maybe a last-minute scramble to address the ASX enquiry.
