Yes you are correct that certain high potential incidents (HPIs) are reportable to the mines department. E.g significant events, uncontrolled movements on machines etc. but these are not required to be reported to the ASX.
I work for a mining company in health and safety and investigate incidents regularly, but I’ve never been involved with an event that has needed to be reported to the stock market. I would think there are impacts such as a environmental, legal etc that could trigger an announcement but I’m unsure of the severity of the event that would trigger it.
I think it’s best if we just wait for offical word on what has happened
