If they DE-MERGE, you will most likely be issued with an equivalent number of shares in the new entity as you hold in the current.
A demerger usually has the effect of enhancing value by valuing each business independently rather than aggregating them as one with the value of one side of the business failing to be correctly recognized.
As an earlier poster identified, it usually creates a 1+1=3 result.
