Yes this is a little worrying, you can tell the government/states are really trying to get the University students in because of loss of revenue. This is just a lead in trial with the small scale High school student number.

To be honest it seems a crazy idea for the 100,000 Chinese students to enter Australia at the moment, given the Government has placed bans from China when the infection number wer alot lower, and gone to such extreme measures with the small number of airlifted from Japan and China. It makes no sense.

It may help the University sector, but it may cost much more in Tourism, hospital/health, shutdowns across the economy and travel and people. Should wait until end of Spring. It is ashame the liberal government has made the University sector so dependent on international students for survival.

Unfortunately this will be good for HCT and the awareness of these types of companies.

On Saturday Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan revealed Year 11 and 12 students from mainland China, excluding from Hubei province, would be considered on a case-by-case basis.

If the states and territories agree, students will undergo a 13-step approval process to come to Australia for their schooling.

Coronavirus recession?

The economic fallout globally from the coronavirus will be far worse than SARS now that China is so critical to the global, and especially Australian, economy, writes Ian Verrender.

Chief medical officer Brendan Murphy said it was not a compulsory plan.

On February 1,the Federal Government announced a ban on anyone arriving from, or transiting through, mainland China from coming to Australia, unless they had been outside China for 14 days.

The ban excluded Australian citizens, permanent residents and immediate family members.

The Federal Government has extended the ban twice and itwill now run until at least February 29.

As for the estimatedalmost 100,00 university students stuck in China or other countries, they will have to wait for any similar help from the Federal Government.
