cochlea scaled back their spp retail applications to 41% a couple of weeks ago, however the spp issue price was $140 and they were trading the whole time at >$180, so it was a gift horse...so not all companies are taking what they get.
This QBE spp is definitely not a gift horse, as you could have bought on market yesterday at $7.51 which is lower than the currrent 2% discount vwap price after day 3....
I think you will get what you ask for because:
- there will be lower than expected shareholder participation in this spp &
- I feel this company will definitely want as much $$ they can get from this raising to fortify it's balance sheet against the negativity/potential liabilities etc.
I think even the current NAB spp will accept a lot more than they are asking for, and that one is a healthy discount at the moment ($14.15 issue price vs current price $16.22), so there should be good shareholder participation in that one.
