Good on you for taking up the spp. and liking the discount to the institutional placement price.
I'm hedging my bets and have applied for the spp, but not the full amount because I'm hoping to buy on market if the share price sinks further.
The point of my previous post is that I believe there will not be a scale back I.e. you will get all $30k.
Getting it at a discount to the institutional placement price is not the driver for me.
Retail investors in the Westpac spp 6 months ago got their spp shares at $24.20, at a discount to the institutional placement price of $25.32. Six months later the share price has tanked to $15.51. There was only a 7% shareholder participation rate and everyone got what they applied for. It was oversubscribed and there were no scalebacks.
