you’re absolutely correct about 6-12 months, except for one major point that’s for a different stage, stage 4 (metastatic) the worst stage. And therein lies the problem, IMO the company has to take some responsibility for consistently mixing up different stages of PC in its comms to market and caused confusion, I suspect by design as it suits a narrative. You have to compare within a stage.
if you look at recent (in the last 5years) decent trials of the stage we’re taking about (stage 3 = LAPC) the median survival results across the board are very different, the ones listed use different therapies for sure inc radiation (the first 2) but you’ll get the picture:
1. LAP07: 15-16 months depending on arm
2. Scalop: 14-17 months depending on arm
3. Lapact (gem + abraxane): about 19 months
4. Neolap (gem + abr vs folfirinox) 17-22 months depending on arm
5. Suker meta-analysis of Folfirinox in LAPC - 24 months
So these don’t scream out outstanding results for OSL trial to be frank.
And let’s not forget the company’s own LAPC literature meta-analysis they presented at AGM which included some very old studies with some curious chemo combos gave around 13 months I think.
Again all this can be fact checked in minutes online. 4 of the list above are published in reputable journals.
personally I think pancreatic cancer is really tough one and the device could actually have greater potential in other tumour types.
