Its very peculiar. The MSB story is very well polished at this point, and probably not hard to pitch to fundies for a discount, particularly with the covid-19 story. And while the cynic/"rational mind" in me has no reason to believe this isn't anything but a run of the mill CR, cant help but think this is something in lieu to a partnership.
* immediately swooped up from somebody at a higher sp and for a larger net value (100m > 75m)
> share purchase means that downside risk isn't completely zero (e.g. upfront cash payments and milestone payments although product ends up a failure?)
> can remain anonymous(e.g. no big announcement of interest e.g. grunenthal)
> reap rewards via share price on organization wide milestones.
and of course saves Mesoblast from increasing their Debt Exposure (the last thing we want until we have some decent revenues imo).
