Exactly right Xavier, have been through this cycle with a couple of good REITs in the last few years. As you say always make the +20/25% on the transaction which is great but when you're buying into these investments with the idea of a long term hold and income, it can be a annoying -- I had rather hoped to be sitting on VTH for many years to come.
I think my mistake over the years has been buying into too-small funds, eg it seems anything in the $100-$500m market cap range never lasts long before becoming a takeover target like this.
