It's quite unusual for 2 companies to jointly announce such, but maybe understandable knowing the common shareholdings through directors.
The more likely acquisition would be an operating or near to developed project out of California Resources portfolio, but so long as it's capable of adding considerable value to both SGC and XST then I don't have a problem.
