Sorry if others have pointed this out already, but I just realised that the ASX pauses trading for trading halts requested by companies while the market is trading ... don't need it if a request is done pre-market (before 10am).
From the ASX:ASX generally pauses trading when a listed entity:
- tells ASX it is intending to lodge a market sensitive announcement and ASX is concerned the market does not trade on an uninformed basis ahead of that announcement; or
- requests a trading halt and ASX agrees to the request, to prevent trading occurring on an uninformed basis while the trading halt is processed.
Same thing happen with KFE on 15 Dec, 3.26pm ASX pause trading... 3.55pm trading halt and KIS on 14 Dec20, 1:14pm pause in trading, with a 2.08pm trading halt.
So turns out it's because the ASX needs time to process it on their end. Nothing to read into the pause in trading.. just usual practice.
