The world is full of awful regimes including many horror major Democratic countries who barely get mentioned in our media as they r strategic allies. Most with miserable populations who have to obey. Reality is more nuanced and just being called a democracy does not cut the mustard so to speak. I do believe in loads of soft diplomacy to promote human rights and to do this multilaterally. Japan, South Korea, the UK and the EU are excellent models for trade and dealing with China. I see trade as a form of soft diplomacy like the influence we create with students coming here for education. This inclusion and co-operation is a strong influence for better human rights in the world. I would sell out my large holdings for A2 milk if I did not believe this.
