The issue here is how long this widespread consultation process is going to take. The change in sentiment towards ATU has been caused because it could mothball the project for many years whilst the government sorts itself out. Grassy Mountain needs to be approved and that is an immediate priority for the government. I just cant see two mines get up and running right alongside each other. Either consolidation will take place and Benga will buy ATU Elan for cents in the dollar, or alternatively ATU will need to look at getting another project into the company. The Elan project was always on Cat 2 lands, but this backflip has made it all current news again, and unfortunately, the eco warriors have long memories and some have deep pockets.
