I think you’ve defined it pretty well yourself.
The similarities end at “being a solid”. Sediments require a fraction of the crushing and milling that volcanic rocks do. And the chemical bonds aren’t as strong meaning there’s less calcining and leaching required to liberate the lithium from the host rock.
Hence all of the well developed clay projects are posting OpEx costs even lower than brines.
