It may be a reasonable time to finance with steady news flow to come, as financing terms may prove more favourably for MAG whilst the story remains strong with investors highly anticipating the coming results. Perhaps the directors didn't want to bet on emergency financing after results should the results not prove up, for the terms of the financing could prove company breaking should the SP sell off.

I should mention that gold sentiment is at very low levels (monthly), however I would expect junior financing in Australia to still be relatively active especially following the stellar rise of discovery plays recently. I would expect the financing terms to be reasonably favourable with such prudent management.
