while I agree that it’s likely we acquired something, it is possible that they could be referring to a material acquisition event, in which we are not the subject who acquired. You might have bought a car recently, and tell someone the story about how the car got sold, to you, for example.
although I do think if we sold it would be called ‘material disposal’ or similar.
