I hear you and feel sorry for you, happens to me regularly as well.
I feel you your pain, sometimes it might pay to hedge your bets and even if you are committed to selling just keep 10-20% of the holding if you feel its a good stock.....then if something like this happens at least you still have a little exposure. Food for thought for your investment strategy down the track.
