My gut on this is that the last technical update was given to us to meet the timeframe that 4DS had indicated. As such, what was put out was light on detail, a bit cryptic and incomplete, but hey, they can't be accused of not delivering! Imagine if that announcement hadn't been made and all we had was radio silence from the company. People would be cracking each others' heads open and feasting on the goo inside.

This will be the follow up to that announcement and has some outcomes from the "ASAP meeting" with HGST/WD along with some results of more analysis that maybe WD has done in their own facilities.

I'm expecting that there will be a revision to the megabit chip timeline, even though the previous announcement indicated there were no changes to the timeframes.

Speculation:

Maybe there is going to be some development work done in WD's own facilities to integrate the megabit array with WD platforms.

Maybe IMEC's megabit platform isn't suitable for the 4DS RERAM array and something a bit more bespoke needs to be developed.
