It understood Kalium Lakes, and its broker Morgans, were talking to fundies on Tuesday morning in an effort to price the deal and secure some early backing.
The terms are expected to be locked in later this morning. It is understood the group told potential investors it needed $30 million to $40 million for expansion.
Kalium Lakes shares went in a trading halt on Tuesday morning.
The trading halt notice said it was working on financing arrangements for its proposed 120Ktpa expansion of the West Australian Beyondie sulphate of potash project.
The raising comes a week after Kalium said the project had produced its first batch of sulphate of potash during the product commissioning process.
Kalium is the 100 per cent owner of the West Australian project. The group had a $185 million market capitalisation prior to the raising.
