Will be interesting to see what sort of carefully worded announcement eventually comes out.
Assuming the kerfuffle is about Valeo - and I think that is the most likely candidate...
In the past all other announcements (including the recent Megachip Deal) just popped - no pause or trading halt.
This suggests that BRN are in damage control mode - call a halt to allow time to sort it and avoid unfair market situation.
So, what are their options?
Deny it - nothing to do with Valeo: unlikely, because Valeo couldn't keep a poker face when asked so the cat is out of the bag. And later if it is true then that means they told a porky.
Perhaps and maybe: "Valeo are evaluating a range of options including Brainchip but have yet to decide." - would BRN want to say that?
A non-committal squib: Acknowledge the possible leak, confirm Valeo is an EAP, and then say however due to NDA neither company is in a position to update the market but hope to announce to the market sometime in the future etc....
Go all in: Pretend the leak never happened and just tell it like it is, as if they were about to announce it anyway.
Of course, Valeo may not want to be reminded that they were responsible for letting the cat out of the bag, and don't care about the ASX requirements, but will care about their NDA and might just say "You must respect our NDA - your problem, you sort it out."
Gonna be interesting.
