It makes sense beanpea, because at the moment EMR can earn up to 85% in the Cambodian project owned by Santana, by paying Santana $1.5m and funding a completed DFS, which Santana is free carried for.
At present, EMR have not earned any percentage in the project, so perhaps they've renegotiated with Santana, and instead of continuing with the JV and gradually earning ownership, they've proposed to simply buy the project outright, now that EMR have the ready cash from producing gold sales.
I wouldn't be surprised, and it would seem to be an reasonable move.
