Just to make my last comment a bit clearer, geotechnical incident meant allmost certainly a wall failure. The Geotech guys have the job of making the pit walls as steep as possible to reduce the stripping and go as deep as possible. Here they have stretched the limit a bit too much and the wall has failed. They can either strip out the waste that now fills the bottom of the pit or if its too much just give up, which i think is what they will do in this case.
