You are buying a unique character that can be used in the Bean game, (metaverse) the value is digital, just like the World of Warcraft items, except in this case there is a market and the characters can move amongst the metaverse games.
So you buy a bean and you could go an play the bean in like Facebooks metaverse. (Perfect world)
Also people just end up collecting them.
