Really need to look at the ASX total return index (AXJOA)
From peak 2007 to now, the index is up over 100%
There are also franking credit inclusive indices if that is applicable
e.g. S&P/ASX 200 Franking Credit Adjusted Daily Total Return Index (Tax-Exempt)
