The foundation of the ASX is news ... it is what drives almost all trading.
The ASX has to ensure that news is made available to all parties at the same time on the ASX website. That creates a level playing field for everyone ... allegedly.
If the deal is done and signed or about to be signed today then lots of people in Malaysia will know about it before the market, for example the lawyers working on the agreement and all their backoffice staff.
A TH is requested to remove the posibility that those in the know can use their knowledge for personal gain by buying stock before the rest of the market is informed.
Also BEZ may have to compile a detailed and announcement which can take a day or two to prepare.
A TH also helps create anticipation and attention in the market.
At least that is the theory
