You can add QLD to that sovereign risk with their well above par unexpected increase to mining royalties last year, with no industry consultation, literally ripping millions out of their own constituents pockets via their super funds and direct investments in the QLD mining industry, all in a single afternoon. And here I was thinking investing in Oz protected me from this rubbish, but it turns out politicians are the same the world over when it comes to making populist policy and grabbing free easy money out of other people's pockets.
