Crunching the numbers. But what numbers? Neither PLS or PMT need more lithium. What they both need is conversion capacity. Therefore the JV will be for a plant similar to the one being built by POSCO in Sth Korea. Questions:
Where will it be built?
What will the ownership \ stake arrangements be?
Will the plant be able to handle spodumene and 35% lithium salts?, because if it is in Nrth America, it will be barely economic for spod to be shipped all the way from PH to, say, Ontario, when you have it right there in Quebec, (Corvette), in large quantities
Who will 'run' the conversion facility, and where will they recruit from? Can we outsource or poach the experts?
The more questions that one thinks of, the more questions appear out of nowhere. If there is to be an announcement, lets hope some of them, are at least mentioned, if not answered.
