What has struck me in the past is how every word of AP’s announcements is dissected and compared with previous announcements as if subtle changes have great meaning. One of the beauties of this language is that it enables one to say the same thing in many ways. I find it amusing to watch this, as is occurring now, only for the perpetrators to discover it was all, not so much a hoax as a reflection of linguistic license. If I was AP, boy would I have some fun. Everybody googling up “transmogrified”. Love that word.
