During the first well the share price tanked initially - I think it went from low 20's to about 10c before news came in, so I don't think the assumption that IVZ could have raised funds at a higher amount in a week or two is a reasonable one. Realistically there was about a 5% dilution to provide security - as much as I would have liked to have sold some yesterday at 20 and bought back in on Thursday, the decision itself seems a sensible one.
