Barrick filed suit against both Dixie and Red Lake Gold for the same reasons. Barrick wanted to use past earned exploration work credits (earned under DG and RGLD) and apply them to hold/renew the claims rather than committing and performing the required work under their watch while they were earning an interest.

They did have this statement in their quarterly MD&A before the lawsuit:

"Uchi Belt, Canada
Multiple teams completed geological traverses and
completed property wide till surveys over the LP and Red Lake properties, optioned with LP Gold and Dixie Gold, respectively. Preliminary results indicate limited prospectivity though some additional fieldwork is planned."
