    Thanks for the reply Allens.

The problem with EV supporters is that when they get short of intelligent argument they resort to name calling and insults.
"So anyway this group of grey headed Dinosaurs with pistons for heads sit and discuss the pure hatred for anything non ICE due premium gasoline runs through there veins not blood.
( A mate and I had a Dodge Brothers cut down ute of about the same age.) "

My reference to the Dodge ute was to confirm with Black Cat that we probably understand each a little as we had similar experiences as kids and are probably about the same age also.

I have had notice before that you do not read well and rarely understand the true meaning behind posters posts. Maybe you should reread the posts a couple of times before typing.

" Black Coal and Coal Seam Gas have always caught fire since man found coal. That was how we probably found coal due its combustibility. Coal self ignites when exposed to oxygen."

It is plain to see that you do not know much about the real world problems associated with lithium batteries.
Lithium batteries can ignite after sustaining the slightest amount of damage in an accident and there is no real way to determine a problem within the case. If water enters the case - especially salt water - they become a bomb.
This is one reason why insurance costs are so high.
As we know the battery is a considerable part of the cost to manufacture the vehicle.
The insurance companies cannot take the risk and so any damage whatsoever renders the battery un- serviceable.

The damaged battery can suddenly burst into flames a month after the damage was inflicted.
The reaction inside the case produces it's own oxygen which is why the fire cannot be extinguished, certainly not easily, as it is self sustaining.
    These things will burn underwater!

My point about the coal fire in the coal mine was that it crashed the company and you would think that it could have been put out - but it couldn't.
Imagine a lithium battery fire that is almost impossible to put out burning in an access restricted area down a mine shaft. Open pit only at the very most.

For a company underground mining to allow such batteries in the tunnels would be plain stupid , not to mention criminal.

"Its all got to do with risk management, even diesel motors burn on haul out equipment."

I agree totally however a diesel fire is much, much easier to put out, and that is the point that seems to escape EV fans.
The Luton car park fire recently is a perfect example of this.
Now the final report is not in yet, to the best of my knowledge, but what is believed to have happened is that a dickhead, late for his plane, drove into the near new four level carpark in his burning diesel Range Rover, jumped out and said my car is on fire, but I am late for my plane and bolted.

However with several EV's in the building the RR set other cars on fire including the EV's.
The problem with the EV's is that their batteries went into "thermal runaway"
burning through the four levels of the concrete car park and the building collapsed taking 1,500 cars with it.
I think that diesel burns at about 600C, lithium burns at 2,000C.
Personally, I think that that one incident probably ended EV's.

Don't take my word for it. search on Google and YouTube to see for yourself.
