It doesn't make any sense for the company to announce a trading halt because they "will be providing an update on intermediate wireline logging and fluid sampling results" if they don't have any fluid sampling results.
And if the news they had is that they failed to get a sample, it wouldn't make any sense to announce that as an 'intermediate result', since they might still get one. "We haven't got a sample yet" isn't news, much less trading halt-worthy news.
The timeline is interesting, but the theory that they have decided to start simplifying regular progress announcements while under-promising and over-delivering (so the steady-as-she-goes announcement yesterday was a deliberately minimal description of progress) makes the most sense to me. Scott even said something like that in the fireside chat I think.
