We're moving toward Enforcement. The ICSID itself has no formal role in the recognition and enforcement of an award under the ICSID Convention. The Convention leaves the choice of the appropriate court or authority charged with the enforcement of ICSID awards to each State party to the Convention.
Each State party must designate a court or authority for this purpose and notify the designation to the Secretary-General of ICSID. The party seeking recognition and enforcement must submit the award to the court or authority. Once filed by the Secretary in any ICSID Member State it acts as a final judgment of that State’s courts.
