Financial advisor on the ABC today suggested amongst other things Tax Payers should use the ATO rules -
Method of realizing a capital loss:Crystallization is a method of realizing a capital loss. This involves exiting a position that is currently in a loss, but the investor believes that the underlying asset will rise in the future. The investor would crystallize the loss by selling the asset and then repurchasing it straight away. Capital losses that have been crystallized can be carried forward indefinitely and used to offset realized gains and reduce ordinary income in subsequent years.
Went on Commsec and saw NRZ had skyrocketed up (lol) and has been suspended but I guess on the 27th it's still an option.
