public interest applies to all citizens, not a select few who don’t want something off their turd riddled coastal waters.

There has been plenty of opposition to rigs off the NWS near Ningaloo and further north but none of them have been canned on public interest. Out of sight out of mind applies here. Unfortunately for us, our permit zone is off a densely populated part of Australia. Fortunately for us also there is precedent on approvals and an unblemished safety record in aus of safely drilling offshore areas.

i will also add federal waters, this encompasses all of Australia, not every state except NSW. And the same rules apply to all operating within those areas under federally allocated permits.

The JA don’t have to agree with NOPTA but they are the federal body that provides professional advice based on relevant legislation. in the words of an individual, Ed has gone against NOPTA at his own peril.
