Raising funds here gives leverage in discussions with BP.
If we are not funded to take the asset through Phase III it materially affects the offer they can make, if we're funded to go it alone then BP risk having to pay more once that has been completed. Some won't mind that of course.
Increasingly BP want to take control of Phase III trials. Their expertise in trial design and execution can make a huge difference. At least having $ in the bank gives DS and co another hand to play.
