There's a big difference between rock chips and channel sampling. Rock chips can be more selective showing bias towards chipping the better looking parts of an exposed vein. Channel sampling will target a length of a vein just like drilling does and like drilling, channel sampling will sample all material equally over a 1m, 2m or longer length so the sample is representative of the average grade over the entire length, again similar to drilling and unlike rock chip sampling. Channel sampling is particularly useful with veins exposed in existing underground adits as well as veins exposed at surface.
