I _think_ I read somewhere that the GDY Lightning rig is 3000 HP, whereas PTR are saying that theirs is 2000 HP.
Can anyone confirm if I have that right? Do you know why?
Now I suppose it's not really a competition (my rig's bigger than your rig) but I was wondering if this was because experience with the GDY holes had shown that the extra power was not necessary?
I also vaguely recall that maybe GDY changed their emphasis as they gained experience from a top drive approach to also using a downhole motor.
Apologies in advance if I have the details wrong - I'm still trying to understand the basics of drilling.
