Makes sense, it's not a "real" loss unless you do not rebuy it back. So you are looking at the stock from a short's perspective. If you sell for eg $1 and buy it back at $0.90, you would get more in terms of units if you wish to keep the "total dollar exposure" value constant. Hope this makes sense.
