Never buy on any media tips or internet or hot copper tips. Fund Managers and stock brokers create campaigns to help sell stocks they want to get rid of (and negative campaigns to buy), and this might include sponsoring (in some way) a free article by some stock promoter. You need to subscribe to a genuine service that analyses the businesses, and think for yourself. There is Morningstar and many others. First check out there track record when you subscribe, by looking at old recos. Nobody will always be right however.

Re online media and tips, I always first assume that somebody believes the exact opposite of what is being proposed, and so I use the media as a confirmation that somebody wants to get in or out, and it helps my trading a lot.

I do read these articles just to see if there is any topic or aspect of the business that I haven't thought of.
