Lionbridge is/was the only major competitor that I am aware of. Their data annotation business, Lionbridge AI, was sold to Canadian IT and communications company TELUS for approximately CAD 1.2bn (USD 935m) in Nov 2020. Revenue of Lionbridge AI is around 200m USD. So Appen is undeniably the larger player.
