Just got off the conference call. Interesting comments were made about their customers reprioritising their projects from their more traditional AI heavy projects, into newer projects/products which are less AI heavy.
Good news - Appen is engaged to work on those newer projects - which has the potential for grow very very large, which means increased revenue growth for Appen. In the longer run, it may just be a timing deferral of work done on the traditional AI heavy projects.
Bad news - In the short run, there is the obvious downside to revenue due to customers reallocating their resources to newer less data intensive projects. In the longer run, it is uncertain as to whether this trend will continue away from the larger projects.
